about the Witcher 3 remember why they cast Charles :
1°)"Charles Dance is the perfect candidate to play the mighty Nilfgaardian emperor in our upcoming title. It’s a dream come true for the team here at RED to be able to work with such an accomplished actor and magnetic personality," said Marcin Blacha, Lead Writer for the title.

2°)Peter Gelencser , designer about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Could you talk a little about Charles Dance?
[laughs] Yeah, I’m still collecting my jaws from the floor. Because I learned that just like you did. I think I stumbled upon it on some of my colleagues’ Facebook posts, saying we have Charles Dunce. And I’m thinking ‘why’s that familiar?’ … Okay, okay, Game of Thrones and all that. [laughs]
His character in the game isn’t exactly similar to Tywin Lannister.
The actor has a rich voice, vocal character, per se. That’s an inspiration for us and the character is going to be an inspiration for him. And the amalgamation of these two is going to result in something unique yet familiar. We have chosen him for a reason. Personal opinion, of course.

9 – Charles Dance will be the Nilfgaardian emperor in the game. How did that come about? What traits did he bring to the game that another actor may not have been able to? Are there many Game of Thrones fans on the team?
When we were doing research on potential candidates to voice Emhyr var Emreis, Mr. Dance was always someone who came to mind. Each group of people that was consulted on the matter somehow ended up saying that we should try to reach out to him. So… we did. And he agreed to lend us his voice. As for the specific traits of his voice, what I personally like is its commanding tone. You hear a sentence and you immediately treat it as an order. This and the beautiful accent make him a splendid Emhyr! As for Game of Thrones, it’s a great show and it has a lot of fans in the studio.

"Michiel de Ruyter (1607-1676) was one of the largest and passionate innovators in combat engineering and therefore he became a naval hero in Holland. As the deeply torn Netherlands is attacked from all sides and on the verge of civil war, one man tries to fight for the interests of the country: Michiel de Ruyter. But in the eyes of those in power, his successes make him too popular and Michiel was sent on a deadly mission"

on stage to read an extract of The Goldfinch by Donna Tart......
Donna Tartt is continuing to fulfil long-standing arrangements this year, and is therefore unable to visit the UK for the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction readings at Southbank Centre. The award-winning actor and director Charles Dance will read from The Goldfinch.

"never have I ever felt quite so conspicuous" says Charles Dance

With the winner of the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction soon to be revealed, the shortlisted authors gathered at the Queen Elizabeth Hall last night to read extracts from their works and answer questions from both the prize chair, Helen Fraser, and the jam packed audience.....
Though the bookie's favourite, Donna Tartt, was unable to attend, Charles Dance assumed her place as a reader (and provider of undoubtedly the best quip of the night: 'never have I ever felt more conspicuous') with Tartt's UK agent on hand to answer questions.....http://www.booktrade.info/index.php/showarticle/54263
